The GameCube is Nintendo's first console to not use primarily cartridge media, following the Famicom Data Recorder, Famicom Disk System, SNES-CD, and 64DD which represent past explorations of complementary storage technologies. The GameCube introduced a proprietary miniDVD optical disc format for up to 1.5GB of data. It was designed by Matsushita Electric Industrial with a proprietary copy-protection scheme unlike the Content Scramble System in standard DVDs.

With the GameCube, Nintendo failed to reclaim the market share lost by its predecessor, the Nintendo 64. Through its generation, GameCube hardware sales remained far behind its direct competitor the PlayStation 2, and slightly behind the Xbox, though there would be times when the GameCube would upstage its rival consoles. The console's family-friendly appeal and lack of support from certain third-party developers skewed the GameCube toward a younger market, which was a minority of the gaming population during the sixth generation. Many third-party games popular with teenagers or adults, such as the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto series and several key first-person shooters, skipped the GameCube entirely in favor of the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. However, many gaming journalists and analysts from the 2000s noted that Nintendo's primary focus on younger audiences, and its family-friendly image, was the biggest advantage and disadvantage at a time when video games were aimed at more mature audiences. Development was enabled by the 1997 formation of computer graphics company ArtX, of former SGI employees who had created the Nintendo 64, and which was later acquired by ATI to produce the GameCube's GPU. In May 1999, Nintendo announced codename Dolphin, released in 2001 as the GameCube.

Herbert Mayo shortly described Wheatstone's discovery in his book Outlines of Human Physiology and claimed that Wheatstone was about to publish an essay about it. It was only one of many projects of Wheatstone's and he first presented his findings on 21 June 1838 to the Royal College of London. In this presentation he used a pair of mirrors at 45 degree angles to the user's eyes, each reflecting a picture located off to the side. Wheatstone's stereoscope was introduced in the year before the first practical photographic processes became available, so initially drawings were used. The mirror type of stereoscope has the advantage that the two pictures can be very large if desired.

The last official cumulative sales figure is from November 2014, at 10 million units sold. GamesIndustry.biz's Brendan Sinclair speculated that this decision was to draw attention away from the lower sales figures of the Xbox One compared to the PlayStation 4, and estimated Xbox One sales to be around 18 million at the time. Microsoft initially imposed policies referred to as the "parity clause" on indie games, which required that the Xbox One version of a game be released at the same time as versions on other platforms. Phil Spencer stated that this rule was intended to ensure that Xbox One was a "first-class" platform by discouraging staggered releases. However, these policies resulted in some studios, such as Vlambeer choosing to negotiate console exclusivity with Sony instead, who proved to be more receptive to indie development.

Transforming the process of innovation

The SmartGlass app can also be used to stream live television to Android and Windows devices if the console is using a USB digital television tuner. Players can use the Upload Studio app to edit and share clips from the last five minutes of gameplay footage that is automatically recorded by the console. Games can also be developed so that recording can automatically be triggered in response to notable events, such as achievements. Users can use voice commands to immediately begin streaming footage of their current game directly to the service, and use Kinect's camera and microphone to record video and audio narration. Users can feature recorded clips on their Xbox Live profile page in a "Showcase" section.

For networking, Xbox One supports Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n wireless, and Wi-Fi Direct. The Xbox One is powered by an AMD "Jaguar" Accelerated Processing Unit with two quad-core modules totaling eight x86-64 cores clocked at 1.75GHz, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM with a memory bandwidth of 68.3 GB/s. The memory subsystem also features an additional 32 MB of "embedded static" RAM, or ESRAM, with a memory bandwidth of 109 GB/s. For simultaneous read and write operations, the ESRAM is capable of a theoretical memory bandwidth of 192 GB/s and a memory bandwidth of 133 GB/s has been achieved with operations that involved alpha transparency blending.

It is Nintendo's first console to use optical discs instead of ROM cartridges, supplemented by writable memory cards for saved games. Unlike its competitors, it is solely focused on gaming and does not play mass media like DVD or CD. The console supports limited online gaming for a few games via a GameCube broadband or modem adapter and can connect to a Game Boy Advance with a link cable for exclusive in-game features using the handheld as a second screen and controller. The GameCube supports e-Reader cards to unlock special features in a few games. The Game Boy Player add-on runs Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridge games. The US is sometimes referred by pundits as a "traditional Xbox market" alongside the UK and Australia, which are regions where Xbox systems tend to do particularly well.

This chip carried several enhancements, including an enhanced triangle setup engine that doubled geometry throughput to eight million triangles/s, better texture filtering, DirectX 6.0 texture compression, AGP 4×, DVI support, and a Rage Theater chip for composite and S-Video TV-in. This chip was used on the game-oriented Rage Fury Pro boards and the business oriented Xpert 2000 PRO. The Rage 128 Pro was generally an even match for the Voodoo , RIVA TNT2 and Matrox G400, but was often hindered by its lower clock when competing against the high end Voodoo3 3500, TNT2 ultra and G400 MAX. The chip was basically a die-shrunk Rage Pro, optimized to be very inexpensive for applications where only basic graphics output was necessary.

An eighth-generation console, it mainly competed against Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Wii U and later the Switch. Nintendo developed stereoscopic 3D technology for the GameCube, supported by one launch game, Luigi's Mansion. 3D televisions were not widespread, and it was deemed that compatible displays and crystals for the add-on accessories would be too cost-prohibitive for the consumer. Two audio Easter eggs can be invoked when the power is activated with the "Z" button on the Player 1 controller held down, or with four controllers connected and holding down the "Z" buttons.

Other regions followed suit the following year beginning with Europe in the second quarter of 2002. Microsoft released two limited-edition 1 TB Xbox One X bundles in September 2019, one for NBA 2K20 and one for Gears 5. To celebrate the launch of the Xbox One X, a limited-edition 1 TB Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition was made available on November 7, 2017. The words “Project Scorpio” are emblazoned in green on both the controller and the console. During the week of Black Friday 2019, Xbox One was the best-selling console with over 100,000 units sold. Microsoft’s last Xbox app update enabling Xbox games to an iPhone or iPad was announced to be live.

Restricting power consumption lowers maximum performance, but the setting would be intended as a last resort to prevent permanent hardware damage. The original Xbox One's exterior casing consists of a two-tone "liquid black" finish; with half finished in a matte grey, and the other in a glossier black. The design was intended to evoke a more entertainment-oriented and simplified look than previous iterations of the console; among other changes, the LED rings used by Xbox 360 are replaced by a glowing white Xbox logo used to communicate the system's status to the user.

The Rage IIc was integrated into one Macintosh computer, the original iMac G3/233 (Rev. A.). Online play requires an official broadband or modem adapter because the GameCube lacks out of the box network capabilities. Nintendo never commissioned any Internet services for GameCube, but allowed other publishers to manage custom online experiences. Retail price dropped to $349 in June 2015, $299 in May 2016 before Xbox One S launch, and finally $279 in June 2016 after Xbox One S launch. Subsequent models did not include the Kinect, and Xbox One S and One X models dropped the Kinect-specific port.

On May 12, 1999, the console was first publicly announced at Nintendo's press conference with the codename Dolphin, as the successor to the Nintendo 64. This included strategic alliances with IBM to create Dolphin's PowerPC-based CPU, codenamed Gekko, and with Panasonic to create its DVD drive and its own Dolphin-based devices. Nintendo then began providing development kits to game developers such as Rare and Retro Studios. The Xbox One S is available in 500 GB, 1 TB, and a "special edition" 2 TB model, which originally retailed at US$299, $349, and $399 respectively. The 2 TB model was released on August 2, 2016, and 1 TB and 500 GB models were released on August 23, 2016.

This design was replaced for Xbox Preview Program members in September 2015 with the current interface, known as "the New Xbox One Experience", which was publicly released as part of the November 12, 2015, system update. Alongside its new layout, support for Kinect motion controls on the dashboard were removed. In May 2018, Microsoft announced the Xbox Adaptive Controller—a special controller designed for users with disabilities. It features two large dome-like buttons, and a series of connectors corresponding to standard Xbox controller buttons—which are used to attach specific types of buttons and other assertive peripherals. The controller can also be used in conjunction with Copilot—a feature introduced in 2017 that allows multiple controllers to be used in tandem on behalf of a single player.

A more advanced multiple view stereoscope is only intended for glass slides and was especially popular in France, as the printing of stereo images on glass was a French specialty and popular until the 1930s. Most devices were manufactured in France, but also in Germany by ICA and Ernemann. Turning a crank will lift a slide from the tray and brings it into viewing position. Turning further will place the slide back in the tray and moves the tray over a rail to select the next slide.

The Atari VCS was announced in 2017 and is based on a customized AMD central processor using Radeon graphic processing technology. Pictures of the unit released in July 2017 showed HDMI and USB ports, an Ethernet port, and an SD card slot. The unit's photos echo the look-and-feel of the Atari 2600, with a black veneer and faux wood-grain front plate, though sized about half as large. The console was released and shipped to backers between December 14, 2020, and December 16, 2020. It was released about a month after the release of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, with early backer reviews finding the performances to be inferior to those consoles.

Although with this criticism, Tom's Guide stated that Atari VCS "may be not as good as a next-gen console, but buying one is lot easier than working out where to buy PS5." Conuladh said that they anticipate the hardware is comparable to a mid-range personal computer for 2017, powerful enough to run most games but not for more recent AAA titles. This was before the platform was redesigned around AMD's new Ryzen R1000 chip, the R1606G announced in 2019. Since then, the VCS has been demonstrated at the 2020 CES playing Fortnite and Borderlands 2. In March 2019, Atari announced that they would be delaying the launch of the VCS to the end of 2019 and announced that the system has upgraded to an unannounced embedded 14 nm AMD Ryzen processor with Radeon Vega-based graphics and two Zen CPU cores.

The Xbox Live service has been scaled up to use 300,000 servers for Xbox One users. Cloud storage is available to save music, films, games and saved content, and developers are able to use Live servers to offer dynamic in-game content and other functionality. The December 2016 software update added the new social networking feature Clubs, which allows users to join groups focused on specific interests or games, and Looking for group , a system to help users locate players to join their party for multiplayer play. The dashboard originally used a layout similar to Windows 8's "Start screen", with a horizontal-scrolling, tile-based interface.

The rubberized analog stick, within the overall button orientation, addresses "Nintendo thumb" pain. The console was scheduled to launch two months later in North America on November 5, 2001, but the date was pushed back in an effort to increase the number of available units. The console eventually launched in North America on November 18, 2001, with over 700,000 units shipped to the region.

He also saw that Atari's game catalog had a good amount of brand recognition. His design goal was to feed nostalgia for the old Atari consoles and allow players to enjoy indie games without a personal computer. While Atari made most of the decisions on the unit's hardware, they have also kept open to suggestions from Atari fans on the unit's aesthetics and other visual features. Atari Corporation left the hardware business around 1996, after it released the Atari Jaguar video game console, and was liquidated in 1998, with Hasbro Interactive purchasing the intellectual property of the brand.

Though falling behind the PlayStation 2 in Europe, the GameCube was successful and profitable there. As of June 2003, the GameCube had a 13% market share, tying with the Xbox in sales but far below the 60% of the PlayStation 2. However, with slow sales and tough competition, Nintendo's position improved.

Updated Xbox app was made available in the App Store, which included a remote play feature. The app would only support Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S games; older Xbox 360 and original Xbox games were not enabled to be streamed remotely to Android or iOS/iPadOS devices. Per a partnership with Oculus VR, users will also be able to stream Xbox One games to the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset by means of Xbox app for Windows 10; as of 2015 there were no immediate plans for direct integration between Xbox One and Oculus Rift.

Time International concluded that the system had low sales figures, because it lacked "technical innovations". The GameCube uses GameCube Game Discs, and the Game Boy Player accessory runs Game Pak cartridges for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance. The GameCube's successor, the Wii, supports backward compatibility with GameCube controllers, memory cards, and games but not the Game Boy Player or other hardware attachments. However, later revisions of the Wii—including the "Family Edition" released in 2011 and the Wii Mini released in 2012—do not support any GameCube hardware or software. According to the International Data Corporation, only 0.3% of the 46.9 million Xbox Ones sold worldwide through the second quarter of 2019 have been from Japan. As of December 2020, shortly after the release of Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One sales in Japan were estimated to be around 115,000 units according to Famitsu.

Most industry analysts have estimated Xbox One's lifetime sales to be around 50 million to 51 million units. All Xbox 360 and original Xbox games that are supported by backwards compatibility on the Xbox One are also supported on the Xbox Series X/S. In addition, these games include automatic high-dynamic-range rendering and resolution increases, depending on the original game and current platform. Select games have also been enabled with FPS Boost that increases the rendering rate up to 60 frames per second.

Prior to the official unveiling, a rumor had circulated that the next Xbox console would be an "always on" system requiring a persistent Internet connection, though Microsoft had not confirmed this. Orth's message drew further ire towards Microsoft, with concerns about digital rights management and practices against the sale of used games with an "always on" unit. Despite Microsoft's statements following the situation, denying the rumors, the mood it created lingered over the next several months.

Rage Fury - 32 MB SDRAM memory and same performance as the Magnum, this add-in card was marketed for PC games. As a low-power chip with capable 2D & 3D acceleration, the Rage XL was used on many low-end graphics cards. It was also seen on Intel motherboards as recently as 2004, and was still used in 2006 for server motherboards. The 3D Rage Pro was mainly sold in the retail market as the Xpert@Work or the Xpert@Play, with the only difference being a TV-out port on the Xpert@Play version. It was also the built-in graphic chipset in the Sun Ultra 5/10 workstations, their first computer model to offer commodity PC hardware components, as well as the built-in graphic chipset of the second revision of the Macintosh G3 . The A button has a uniquely prominent size and placement, having been the primary action button in past Nintendo controller designs.

Its quieter and cooler design was praised for making the console more reliable than its predecessor at launch, but the console was generally criticized for running games at a technically lower graphical level than the PlayStation 4. Its original user interface was panned for being nonintuitive, although changes made to it and other aspects of the console's software post-launch received a positive reception. Its Kinect received praise for its improved motion-tracking accuracy, its face recognition logins, and its voice commands. Moving away from its predecessor's PowerPC-based architecture, the Xbox One marks a shift back to the x86 architecture used in the original Xbox; it features an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit built around the x86-64 instruction set. Xbox One's controller was redesigned over the Xbox 360's, with a redesigned body, D-pad, and triggers capable of delivering directional haptic feedback.

How Much Should You Pay a Tutor Per Hour? A Rate Breakdown

Work out if your child needs tutoring - you can find the signs to look out for in the article above. Factor in gas, tolls, train or bus fare and other commute costs that may drive up the cost of a tutor. Take advantage of any free trial periods or other incentives that allow you to try the tutoring service before you buy it. Tutor.com, which is a service of the Princeton Review, offers packages that range from $40 to $153 a month.

You should be prepared to pay more for highly qualified instructors — and the more advanced or specialized the subject, the higher the rate. When you use a tutoring agency to find a tutor, check to see if you are expected to sign a long-term contract with the company. If so, make sure to inquire about any hidden costs or what the cancellation fee is if you decide it’s no longer a good fit. If your child needs multiple lessons, ask if you are expected to pay per lesson or inquire about the possibility of a reduced price if you purchase a month’s worth of lessons.

Private Tuition: Tips and Suggestions for Students

There is no one type of student that is most receptive to online tuition, as different students have different learning styles and preferences. Some students may find online tuition more convenient and effective, while others may prefer in-person home tuition. Many people think they need a degree in education in order to become a tutor.

This happens because transportation and material costs go down for tutors and they are able to deduct them from their overall hourly rate. So you want to have private tutorials but you don’t want your tutor’s approach to be limited by the fact that they’re not being paid fairly. To get the best out of your private lessons, the tutor has to feel like they’re being fairly paid. For example, an average rate for physics tutorials in New York City is around $27 USD per hour. However, guitar lessons average $38 USD per hour and piano lessons average $49 USD per hour. When you look for a private tutor, you’ll need to take into account the reasons why prices vary in order to find the best price.

This, however, offers limited value for money as the tutors often lack the experience and know-how to deliver quality lessons. Today, this solution is no longer just the answer to private tutoring for homework help or assistance with a child’s virtual school curriculum. It’s also fast becoming the answer for busy families who want to make sure their homeschool curriculums are running smoothly.

As such, the cost per hour will generally be slightly higher than group tutoring, but often is very comparable. Rates for a qualified and experienced tutor will range from around £35 per hour up to £70 per hour. Given the great benefits of one-to-one tutoring we feel this is by far the best option for students. Independent tutors and locally run tutoring companies generally have the lowest costs and can therefore offer the best value for money. They can also provide personalised one-to-one tuition, which is by far the most effective form of tutoring from our experience. Working with a local tutoring company provides an added level of assurance in the quality of the tutors.

Experienced tutors such as professors or teachers are expected to charge $56 per hour or more. Overall, a home-school tutor is likely to cost anywhere between £15 and £35 per hour, and this is partly dependent on what subject they'll be teaching. In general, the more popular the subject among students, the higher the price is likely to be, although this can also be true of subjects with very few tutors. For core subjects like English, Maths or Science, the average price is likely to be between £20 and £22 per hour. However, this will vary a little depending on the level required.

How much does a tutoring center cost?

Regardless of how you hire a tutor, find out if you need to pay upfront or after each lesson. You may receive discounts for purchasing a tutoring bundle with a certain number of hours. Make sure to find out if there are any additional fees and when these will be charged to your account. If you have questions about your tutoring costs, ask for clarification to avoid being overcharged, and ask the tutor to draw up a bill if you have decided to hire a private tutor. Most of the time, learning centers and online tutoring platforms require payment via credit card, debit card, or bank transfer. If you choose to work with a private tutor, you can also choose to pay the tutor in cash or use a money order or a check.

Because tutoring sessions are provided through a private individual, ask about their expectations when it comes to a cancelled or missed lesson. Will you still be expected to pay even if your child did not attend the session? If you’re running late, your tutor may count that as part of the lesson, resulting in money lost. At Tutor In, we only use the very best experienced and well qualified tutors. With excellent degree, masters or PhD qualifications in their subjects, and fantastic tutoring or teaching experience. Wherever you search for tutors, we recommend looking for this level of qualifications and experience before booking a first lesson.

Most licensed teachers charge $45 to $60 an hour for tutoring. Kirk says she's been advised by her peers to charge more for her services because of her credentials, but her desire to help students and families motivates her to keep her fees low. Before you can develop a budget for tutoring services, you need to take a look at your monthly income and expenses. Ask yourself how much money can be set aside for tutoring services. If money is tight, you may need to find areas where you can cut to make room for tutoring costs. As a result of the Corona virus and the rise in the use of Zoom and Teams, we now have a shortage of tutors willing to travel to students' homes.

Lessons for more advanced qualifications will cost a little more, as tutors need extra knowledge and expertise to deliver the best lessons. A level lessons, for example, will generally cost around £5-£7.50 more than GCSE level lessons. Before you dive in, check with your child’s school to see if it offers free tutoring.

Curriculum — curriculum has been identified as the biggest expense you may incur. According to the HSLDA , the average parent spends between $300 to $600 per child annually on curriculum, programs, books, and games. Currently, there are various ways parents and guardians can go about it to save costs. The outbreak of the novel CoronaVirus (Covid-19) opened up many opportunities that most people didn't know existed, and one of these opportunities is homeschooling. For $13 to $15 per hour, she stopped in to check on kids, make lunch, help them with homework, keep them on task, and tutor them in areas where they were struggling. I consulted with Teachers To Go and they talked to me for a long time. They listened to my concerns and showed me what options were available in my state. The teacher has been great for him, and working with her at home has been both much more productive and safer. We are now able to meet our son's needs much more efficiently. I knew she was the right one when we interviewed her, and sure enough, she’s so good with the kids. She’s been translating the screen time to hands-on every day and working with the school, and both kids’ grades are solid. Comfortable & Controlled Learning Environment – The home is by nature comfortable, and a controlled environment that you can make changes to. All our tutors declare two referees with which we follow up. Tutors must have the correct qualifications to be able to tutor and educate. SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.

The teacher needs to be very organized and professional with experience, yet flexible enough to work with the curriculum we have chosen. You can also use it to teach electives you don’t have the experience to do yourself. For instance, Teachers To Go supplies teachers for a wide variety of extra-curricular subjects, including languages, the arts, and musical instruments. Before coronavirus, there was a little-known secret shared only by a few very busy parents. The secret was that with a little help, your child can achieve a well-rounded education or supplemental education experience at home — even when parents are too busy to be involved. One of the core benefits of homeschooling is the singular fact that it is designed to meet the needs of the learner specifically.

This is because different towns and cities have different average rates due to the variation in the cost of living. One of the ways we keep our tutoring prices affordable for families is by relying on referrals and word-of-mouth. We don’t maintain large advertising budgets, film television commercials, or print newspaper ads. By doing this, we pass along the savings to our parents. At SchoolTutoring Academy, satisfied customers are what drives our growth.

I wasn't sure at first if filling two seperate positions was practical or even possible, but Teachers To Go really came through. Truth be told, all but one of the candidates seemed like a perfect fit, so it was really hard to choose. I would say we got lucky twice, and it sure was a lot less stress to know that this was taken care of. Someone Else to Hold Them Accountable – Sometimes a student may feel like a parent is being unfair or acting like a drill sergeant. They may treat the situation differently and respond better when they see there is someone else besides the parent holding them accountable for their work.
